Every Jim Has a Pam Out There

How planes work and anything to do with math may always escape me, but if there’s one thing I’m sure of it’s that there is someone out there for everyone. There are just too many people in this world for single people to exist. Do I think the best person for you is going to live right down the street? Nope, I’m a romantic realist. While I believe we all have a perfect partner in this world, I don’t believe we’ll all be lucky enough to find them in our lifetime because let’s face it…your soulmate could be living in a whole other country right now and you’d never know it based on a number of factors.

One of the biggest reasons I believe people don’t find their ONE is that they are close minded to who they should be with. They have this picture in their head of the man or woman they will fall in love with and anyone who even strays from this make believe prototype is quickly dismissed. Going back to Aziz Ansari’s Modern Romance for the millionth time, he has an idea of his “perfect” girl in his head and the woman he ended up falling for wasn’t that at all. She wasn’t blonde or younger than him and instead of meeting at some hip club, I believe they met at a museum or something nontraditional like that. Perhaps through friends. It’s been awhile. Nevertheless, he stepped outside his delusional preferences and found a great girl. So single people who can’t seem to find anyone, it’s likely because you’re setting your standards up so high that no one is ever going to reach them. So take them off the moon, bring them back to earth and start giving a variety of people a shot.

Going back to the fact that love may not be within a one mile radius, that’s where online dating is key. The person you could fall for instantly may be living in another state or on another continent for all you know. And since you aren’t likely to travel the world looking for love, maybe broaden those search engines when you make your profile because those “hot singles in your area” may not particularly be up your alley.

Listen, when you grow up in a town that Honey Boo Boo could have grown up in and you’ve seen the oddest looking people find love…you realize that looks love does not discriminate when it comes to all shapes and sizes. This was also beaten into my brain as an adult when I watched My 600lb Life and found that many of those men and women had spouses by their side. So whenever someone complains about being single, I think of these things and it only makes me realize more than ever that everyone has someone out there for them.
